One of the important
features of this General Election is the extensive application of
Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The GENESYS Application Module developed by the Election Commission
of India enabled the online transmission of data from the Office of the
Chief Electoral Officer to the Election Commission.
It also enabled the announcement of result online.
Information
Technology was also applied to disseminate round-wise data on Counting day
to give effective and reliable data to the Press immediately.
The Affidavits of the contesting candidates were hosted on the website for
wider dissemination, as also the Electoral Rolls for wider accessibility to
the public.
